Blockchains are Pseudonymous not Private. This is how we find your Crypto Wallet.

This is how we track influencer’s real crypto wallets!

Today we want to talk about the how the nature of Blockchain technology allows us to do what we do.

One of the major ideas behind the creation of blockchain technology is that it is decentralised.

In a centralised system, one entity, like a bank, holds the details of its customers accounts. For blockchain technology to be decentralised it requires that every transaction be verified and recorded in an ever growing ‘chain’ of transactions, on a ledger, forever.

It’s hard to imagine but in its simplest form every time a transaction occurs the entitreity of the ‘blockchain’ is changed to show it as including that transaction.

The transparent nature of this technology means that anyone can search for and find any transaction.

This would be a huge privacy issue if your name and other personal details were attached to your wallet. However the only way your wallet is known to the blockchain is your public key. That is the long string of numbers and letters. That is your wallet address!

It’s these wallet addresses of the influencers you watch that we search for and then verify and track.

The word to describe this use of a random string of digits rather than personal details such as names etc is pseudonymous.

To be honest as far as privacy goes, pseudonymous isn’t exactly private! It’s not that difficult to find wallet addresses of people that are regularly giving away hints as to what transactions they have made or what assets they own.

On the other hand, to find the wallet address of your next door neighbour without knowing anything about what they own or buy etc would be near impossible. So if you did want to keep your address very secure, you could!

One very simple method we have used to find wallet addresses occurs when influencers do give aways and ask for their followers to publicly post their wallet addresses. If the influencer eventually posts the names of the winners, all you need to do is search for that winners comment where they input their wallet address and then search for that wallet address in a blockchain explorer. You should see that the prize was delivered. And from there you can see which wallet sent the prize. Simple…

Unfortunately it often isn’t as simple as it sounds. Most people, especially successful influencers have many different wallets and hundreds of transactions. Their assets often pass through exchanges that have their own contract addresses and there are many different blockchains and blockchain explorers depending on the asset.

To find a particular persons active trading wallet is tricky, but not impossible!

The research and searching is time consuming! Plus once think we have something we spend months waiting for further clues using different methods to verify beyond any reasonable doubt that the address we have is correct. Only once we are sure do we begin to track and publish the wallet visualisations of the data within them.

That is the value we provide on top of doing the initial detective work. Looking at long lists of confusing transactions is not user friendly. We create simple user friendly pdf’s showing the up to date information, every single day for our members.
